The O’Neill Community Foundation Fund recently donated $20,000 to the Little Disciples Child Development Center.
The Little Disciples Child Development Center in O’Neill is opening a secondary location in the former Avera VA clinic building to accommodate approximately 40 additional children which will be licensed by the Department of Health and Human Services. Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital offers the use of the property and building to benefit the community efforts of increasing quality child growth and development.
The center plans to utilize the funds provided by the O’Neill Community Foundation Fund to purchase and install a fenced in outdoor play area adjoining the Avera building. This is a required project in order to become licensed by the Department of Health and Human Services.
The O’Neill Community Foundation Fund fully funded this grant request due to the high need of childcare services in the area. When young families consider their options for raising a family, the availability of high-quality child-care options ranks high on their lists. Increasing capacity for the community by up to 40 children is vital to the economic health of O'Neill.
